Abstract

The study employed VECM to determine the relationship among revenues, fixed assets’ investment, debt and labor demand in enterprises in Ben Tre province. The data were extracted from enterprise surveys which were yearly conducted by the General Statistics Office on 793 enterprises in the period 2012 to 2019. The results show that revenues and fixed assets have a statistically positive impact on the labor demand of enterprises, while the effect of debt is also in the same way but not statistically significant. Among the influencing factors, fixed assets have a significant contribution to the increase of local employment, debt provides a little contribution, and the contribution of revenue is almost negligible. Ultimately, several policy implications are suggested for Ben Tre based on the findings.
