Abstract
This study aims to develop a measurement scale to assess the e-marketplace participation readiness of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hue City. Based on the Technology–Organization–Environment framework and the e-Readiness model, the study proposes a measurement scale comprising three main components: (1) E-marketplace readiness, (2) Organizational readiness, and (3) Environmental readiness. A mixed-methods approach was employed, including qualitative research (expert interviews) and quantitative research (a survey of 150 SMEs in Hue). The collected data were analyzed using reliability and validity tests, such as Cronbach’s alpha, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The results indicate that the scale consists of three components with 17 observed variables, demonstrating high reliability and measurement validity. Theoretically, this study makes a significant contribution by extending the theoretical framework of technology adoption, adapting, and applying it to the context of SMEs’ participation in e-marketplaces. Practically, the study provides valuable insights that enable SMEs to self-assess their readiness while also supporting the government, policymakers, and e-marketplaces in developing appropriate solutions to encourage SMEs participation in the digital economy.
