Abstract
This study is aiming to identify profit efficiency and analyze the impact of land fragmentation on the profit efficiency of rice farming households in An Giang province, based onthe data collected from 165 rice farming households in An Giang province. The Cobb-Douglas stochastic frontier profit function incorporating profit inefficiency effects was employed to analyze the data, using the Frontier 4.1. The results revealed that the the profit efficiency of rice farming households in the study area varies between 34.87% - 99.99%, an average of 66.71%. Besides, some factors such as price of rice strain, area have a positive impact on the profitability of rice farming households; whereas, fertilizer prices, labor costs and agricultural chemicals costs have the opposite effect to profits. The level of land fragmentation is measured by the Simpson composite index (Simpson Index) and the number of land plots that limit the ability to improve economic efficiency. On the contrary, the average land area, technical training, education and credit accesscontribute to improve the profitefficiency of rice farming households.
