Abstract
Global warming has been leading to climate change that is causing negative impacts on human life and production activities. Global warming is due to an increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted from anthropogenic activities including agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector. This study estimates the impact of GHG emissions from the AFOLU sector on global warming using OLS regression method. The results show that the GHG emissions from the AFOLU has a significant positive effect on global warming, indicating that the AFOLU sector has an important role to control the global warming through the strategy of GHG emission mitigation. This research suggests some solutions to mitigate GHG emissions from the AFOLU such as promoting the adoption of alternative wet dry rice farming practice, reducing the use of chemical fertilizers, converting low-yielding rice land to vegetable cultivation, using digestive enzymes and developing models of bio-gas tunnels to treat manure in livestock, and protecting and increasing the afforestation area.
