Abstract
Information technology and communication have long been recognized as crucial factors in the overall economic development and operational efficiency of organizations, including banks. Especially since the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, information technology and communication have been regarded as catalysts, driving growth and breakthroughs for organizations and businesses. This study focuses on exploring the role of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) in enhancing the competitive capabilities of several commercial banks in Vietnam. By employing the Pooled Mean Group (PMG) estimation method for panel data from seven banks over the period 2005-2020, the results once again confirm the significant and positive role of information technology and communication in the competitive capabilities of banks. This provides a basis for proposing recommendations to contribute to improving the operational efficiency of commercial banks in Vietnam.
