Abstract

The article uses the GMM model to evaluate the impact of human capital on labor productivity growth in Vietnam by the provincial level from 2011 to 2020. In this study, human capital is approached simultaneously in both education and health aspects. The empirical results show that the education capital and the health capital both have a positive effect on increasing labor productivity in the period 2011-2020. However, the positive impact of the health capital on labor productivity is much higher effect than the education capital. This proves that education, especially high-level education, has not played a leading role in increasing labor productivity of the economy in recent years. From the research results, some recommendations are made to improve the quality of human capital which promotes labor productivity growth of Vietnam in the future.
