Abstract
Barriers to women career advancement in the hotel sector in Khanh Hoa province
Women make up a high proportion of the tourism workforce in general and the hotel business in particular. However, the proportion of women in middle and senior management positions is still limited. This study aims to identify barriers to women's career advancement in the hotel sector. Using exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling methods, and the survey data with 255 management staff and employees in 4-5 star hotels in Khanh Hoa province. Research results confirmed 7 hindering factors including female characteristics, female psychological characteristics, physical characteristics, job characteristics of the hotel industry, corporate culture, family culture and traditional beliefs. From the findings, some policy implications are proposed to contribute to improving women's career advancement opportunities in the hotel business.
