Abstract

Classifying household solid waste at source is one of the current effective measures to protect the environment. This action is being encouraged in countries around the world, including Vietnam. With the goal of building a "heritage, cultural, ecological, environmentally friendly, and smart urban area", in June 2022, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province implemented a program regarding the classification of household solid waste at the source.. Based on the assessment of the current situation of model implementation to propose appropriate solutions, this study conducted a survey of 110 households. The results showed that only 74.55% of total surveyed households knew about this model while 25.45% of total households did not know, of which only 64 households used the model with a rate of 58,18%. Moreover, among households using this model, few people are satisfied with the distance where trash cans are placed as well as the cost savings.
