Abstract
The primary aim of this research is to evaluate the elements that influence the engagement of local residents in the advancement of agritourism in Phong Dien district, Can Tho city. The study employs various research methods such as collecting secondary data, conducting field surveys, and interviewing 165 local individuals involved in agritourism development. Exploratory factor analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were applied to analyze the data. The outcomes reveal the existence of six key factors that influencing the participation of local residents, namely residents’ awareness about tourism, household resources, tourism-related benefits, social capital, local resources, and local policies. Drawing on these findings, the study presents recommendations to promote the involvement of local people in agritourism development in Phong Dien district, thereby fostering income growth and enhancing the overall quality of life for the local community.
